Myanmar’s new Trademark Law will come into effect from April 1, 2023. The WIPO filing system has been updated and requires a notarized TM2 form for re-filing trademarks. The grand opening of the IP department will take place on April 26, 2023. All trademarks registered under old practice must be re-filed by May 31, 2023, with payment of official fees and submission of the TM-2 form. New trademark applications and requests for recordation can be filed after the grand opening and will be examined under usual trademark system procedures. The examination time may take 12 to 18 months.
